Volunteer Role: Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing Steering Group Activist Representative

This is an exciting opportunity for an Amnesty International Australia (AIA) activist to become an Activist Representative on our Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing (DIW) Steering Group.

The DIW Steering Group is responsible for developing a DIW Action Plan and planning a consultation with a diverse range of AIA members, staff, activists, and community members. 

This is a flexible role, and the successful candidate will negotiate their responsibilities with the DIW Steering Group, depending on their skills and interests. 

Some of the responsibilities of this role may include for example:

  • Engaging activists and/or community members
  • Providing advice and feedback 
  • Conducting research
  • Drafting elements of the Action Plan 
  • Brainstorming implementation initiatives
  • Drafting communications 

In addition, the successful candidate must be available to attend a 1 hour meeting once per month (once per fortnight during peak periods of activity) via Zoom or in person at our Melbourne action centre, and additional time to complete tasks as negotiated with the DIW Steering Group.

  • your knowledge of and/or any lived experience relating to diversity, inclusion and wellbeing; and 
  • Optional (not essential): any professional, volunteer, or informal experience you may have in projects and/or activities relating to diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.
